During winter, low light and freezing temperatures can create a power deficit where the station consumes more energy than it collects. To protect the battery, charging is disabled in sub-zero conditions to prevent permanent damage to its long-term capacity. When this happens its sending frequency is reduced from every 10 minutes to every 3 hours. During long and cold winters, the weather station may run completely out of energy. When this happens, Cordulus continues to provide externally sourced weather data that’s stored in your historical weather overview. Once spring arrives and the weather station begins to charge again, you will need to turn on the weather station with the magnet to get it started for the new season.
